Sanford Center for Aging has acquired a new vehicle, thanks to generous funding from Nevada Aging & Disability Services Division, Washoe County and the Minnie B. Leonette Family Foundation. This vehicle will serve as a crucial asset in the organization’s mission to enhance the lives of older adults in the community by providing transportation services.

Transportation is often cited as a significant challenge for older adults, limiting their access to essential services, social interactions and healthcare appointments. Recognizing this need, Sanford Center has been providing transportation as part of its catalog of direct services to older adults for many years.

The funds provided Nevada Aging & Disability Services Division, Washoe County Commissioners Michael Clark and Kitty Jung as well as the Minnie B. Leonette Family Foundation have enabled Sanford Center to purchase a safe and reliable vehicle.

"We are incredibly grateful to our community and funders for their generous support," said Crissa Markow, director of community services at Sanford Center. "This new vehicle will significantly enhance our ability to serve older adults in our community, allowing us to expand our transportation services and reach even more individuals in need."

The addition of this vehicle to our fleet represents a significant milestone for Sanford Center and underscores a commitment to improving the quality of life for older adults in Nevada. With this new resource, Sanford Center will be able to provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, social outings and other essential destinations, empowering older adults to remain active and engaged members of our community.
